Confronting the Stash Again
Since my move back to Seattle last summer, I only knitted from stash. Until I bought a few skeins for holiday knitting. Then two skeins as a holiday gift. Then, I had an infusion of gift cash, some of which I turned into four skeins. Then came St. Distaff’s Day, aquiring 12 oz of spinning fiber. Still doing pretty well. And I’m giving the Seattle to Portland Yarn Train a miss in the interest of economy and stash control.
My next big fiber event is Madrona. I’ve already purchased the two (on sale) skeins of contrasting bulky yarn I need for the homework and class in “perfecting” my circular knitting. I’m going on Saturday to socialize and wallow in the precious – visually. We’ll see how that goes. I’m going on Sunday for more socializing and my class.
I’ve started up some from-stash projects. Socks from my handspun Panda from Susan’s Spinning Bunny that I made awhile ago. And the Eternal Stash of the Luscious Alpaca has been through two more sweater starts and stops. It is currently being knitted into a big turtleneck. We’ll see if I like the way its going and actually finish it.

St. Distaff’s Day
was simply wonderful. Met up with Jan, Deb, and Shelly right away and was made welcome by the entire circle. So much to see and drool over, so many beautiful spinners and beautiful wheels. Showed great restraint and purchased only twelve ounces of awesome fiber. Did some spinning and knitting, and won a gift certificate to Wild Fibers in Mt. Vernon. Planning on going to area 2030′s meeting in Burien next week.

Making Headway on Holiday Knitting
Finished the entrelac scarf. LOVE the yarn, a great acrylic with long color runs and beautiful colorways. Casting on now for blue cashmere mitts that will be accented with sparkly pink and blue variegated handspun.
The sparkly yarn is from a batt created by Joey Tan, a young woman with preternatural design ability. The Tan family used to have a shop called Gosh Yarn It, and after searching a bit, I found them at Syrendell on Etsy. So good to see them creating and growing so beautifully.
